Oklahoma CPA Requirements (Rules on Exam and Licensing)

Oklahoma CPA requirementsOklahoma State Board requires a standard 150 credit hours and 1 year of experience in either public or non-public accounting.

Please note that OK has two levels of qualifications for accountants: CPA and PA. Please make sure you read the CPA section for the correction information.

Oklahoma CPA Requirements

1. Education Requirements to Sit for the CPA Exam in OK

  • Bachelor’s degree or above with at least 120 semester hours and a major or concentration in accounting. Your degree must be from an accredited university or educational institution.
  • Accounting course requirements:
    • 24 semester hours of accounting (above the intro level)
    • 1 course must be in audit or assurance
  • Business course requirements: 9 hours (upper-division)

2. Additional Oklahoma CPA Requirements for the License

Education

Work Experience

  • 1 year (2,000 hours) of full-time experience in public or non-public accounting in the service of accounting, attestation, consulting, compilation, financial advisory, management, or tax
  • This experience must be verified by an active CPA licensee.
  • For details please refer to  section 15.9E (p.13 of the Oklahoma Accountancy Act).

3. Oklahoma CPA Requirements on Residency & Age

  • You must have a SSN (social security number)
  • OK residency IS required.
  • Minimum age: none.

4. Oklahoma CPA Fees

  • OAB (Oklahoma Accountancy Board) Application Fee: $75
  • CPA Exam Fees (per section): $262.64
