To maintain an active CPA license in Washington state, certified public accountants have to fulfill the CPE requirement on a triennial basis.

Washington CPA CPE Requirements

120 CPE credits have to be accumulated upon the renewal date, which is Apr 30 (expiration date: June 30). The reporting period is Jan 1 to Dec 31 every 3 years.

Specific Requirements

  • At least 4 hours of board-approved ethics course per reporting period
  • Not more than 72 non-technical subject, generally refer to the personal development and behavioral courses
  • There are some restrictions if you plan to count your role as an instructor, presenter or author as CPE requirement. Please refer to the CPE info link below for details.
