Maine CPA CPE Requirements and Courses

Maine CPA CPE requirementsThe Maine CPA CPE requirements are fairly straightforward.

To maintain an active CPA license in Maine, certified public accountants have to fulfill an annual CPE requirement. Here is a summary of the Maine CPA CPE requirements for your reference.

Maine CPA CPE Requirements

In Maine, CPAs need 40 hours of continuing education by the time of their license renewal, which must be completed annually by September 30.

Unlike other state board of accountancy CPE rules, Maine CPAs don’t have to follow any CPE requirements other than gaining 40 hours of continuing education before the annual renewal date. That is, CPAs in Maine don’t need to take CPE courses that meet certain topic requirements. (In some states, for example, CPAs need to take a certain number of hours of CPE related to accounting, business, or ethics topics.) Therefore, you should enroll in CPE courses that best suite your job or help you better understand the latest accounting field updates.

Specific CPA CPE Requirements in Maine

  • An annual renewal fee of $35 will also be due
  • You’ll have to pay a $50 late fee if your license is renewed after the license expiration date
