Frequently Asked Questions
I Heard That People Get The Score On Different Days. Is That True?
Yes, mostly because of the following delays:
- Some states may need 1-2 days of processing time for the AICPA score release. If you don’t see the score appear yet, don’t worry.
- BEC – additional analysis may be required for Written Communication part of the exam and it may take up to one week following the target date to get your score.
- In a few cases the score may need to undergo “scoring inquiry” that requires additional psychometric analysis.
- Example of an extreme case: after Hurricane Sandy in early Nov 2012, the score was released almost a week behind schedule because the AICPA office was located in New Jersey and was affected by the storm.
Is There A Way To Know Exactly the AICPA Score Release Date?
No one can be 100% sure, but you can increase the chance of certainty by avoiding to take the exam on the cutoff date (i.e. Day 20, Day 45). It is best to give a two-day leeway, i.e. take the exam on Day 18 or before, or Day 43 or before.
But I Heard Scores were Released in Two Rounds?
It was the case prior to 2011. Since the Oct/Nov 2011 window scores have been released more quickly and frequently.
Are the Release Days the Same for International Exam Sites?
After October 1, 2011, scores for international candidates has been released on the same timeline as domestic scores. But you may experience one day delay due to the extra processing and validation required. For details check out this page on CPA exam international sites.
