West Virginia CPA CPE Requirements and Courses

West Virginia CPA CPE requirements

To maintain an active CPA license in WV, certified public accountants must fulfill the West Virginia CPA CPE requirement over a rolling 3-year period.

Here is a summary for your reference.

West Virginia CPA CPE Requirements

In West Virginia, CPAs need 120 hours of continuing education every 3 years. Furthermore, CPAs must accumulate their credits by the time of license renewal, which also occurs every 3 years by June 30. The reporting period is from January 1 to December 31.

Specific Requirements

  • At least 20 hours per year (recommended 40 hours per year)
  • 4 hours of state-specific ethics
  • There are some restrictions if you plan to count your role as an instructor, presenter, or author as your CPE requirement. Please refer to the CPE info link below for details.
