South Dakota CPA CPE Requirements and Courses

To maintain an active CPA license in North Dakota, certified public accountants have to fulfill a CPE requirement on a triennial basis.

In South Dakota, CPAs need 120 hours of continuing education every 3 years. Furthermore, CPAs must report their credits by the end of the reporting period that ends on June 30.

CPE is considered on a rolling three-year cycle.

Specific Requirements

• Not more than 24 hours of behavioral or motivational courses can be counted for CPE for public accountants. There is no limit on general personal development courses.
• A maximum of 50% of CPE hours may be for authoring published books or articles
• Credit will only be given for self-study courses with a final exam; CPAs must pass with a score of at least 70%
