Montana CPA CPE Requirements

In Montana, CPAs need 120 hours of continuing education every 3 years. Furthermore, CPAs must report their credits at the time of license renewal, which also occurs every 3 years by December 31.

Specific Requirements

  • At least 2 hours in ethics per reporting period
  • At least 50% of CPE hours as reported every 3 years must be in a technical field of study
  • CPAs only receive half credits for self-study courses not listed in NASBA’s National Registry of CPE Sponsors
  • A maximum of 60 hours as an instructor, speaker, or technical reviewer
  • A maximum of 30 hours for authoring a published book or article
