Mississippi CPA CPE Requirements and Courses

Mississippi CPA CPE requirementsTo maintain an active CPA license in Mississippi, certified public accountants have to fulfill a CPE requirement on a triennial basis.

Here is a summary for your reference:

Mississippi CPA CPE Requirements

In Mississippi, CPAs need 120 hours of continuing education every 3 years. Furthermore, CPAs must report their credits at the time of license renewal, which also occurs every 3 years by June 30.

Specific Requirements

  • At least 40 hours per year
  • At least 4 hours in board-approved ethics, professional conduct, or public accountancy law and regulation courses every 3 years. At least 1 of these 4 hours must be in Mississippi Public Accountancy Law and Regulations
  • Carry forward to next year within the same reporting period is allowed  up to 20 hours
  • Self-study courses must be approved by NASBA’s QAS (Quality Assurance Services) program
  • There is no specific rule on CPE subjects (other than the ethics requirement), but the State Board strongly encourages licensees to take subjects relevant to their fields of profession.
