Louisiana CPA CPE Requirements and Courses

Louisiana CPA CPE requirementsTo maintain an active CPA license in Louisiana, certified public accountants have to fulfill the CPE requirement on a triennial basis.

Here is a summary for your reference:

Louisiana CPA CPE Requirements

The CPE credits have to be accumulated during a reporting period, which ends on Dec 31. The current reporting cycle is Jan 2013 to Dec 2015.

Please note that a renewal notices will be mailed to your address in early November. You’ve got to remember the renewal because there is no grace period to practice on an expired license.

Within these 3 years, the CPAs registered in Louisiana should fulfill at least 120 hours of accounting continuing education.

Specific Requirements

  • *Important* LA state board only accepts “interactive” CPE courses — online webinars are generally fine.
  • For those CPAs who perform attest services, 20% of the current CPE requirement must be in Accounting and Auditing courses.
  • At least 4 hours of approved ethics courses (please see CPE page link below for details).
  • Not more than 25% of the course can be related to personal development.
  • CPE can be waived if you have applied for the “CPA inactive” status.

Further Information

You can also contact State Board of CPAs of Louisiana for general licensing and CPE information:
