CPA Review Books: Which has the Best Value for Money?
Among the popular CPA review books, I like the books from Becker and Gleim the best. Here is a short summary of the CPA books that my readers ask me about.
Becker CPA Books
In the past, Becker did not sell their books separately, so you had to buy the full guided review course to get your hands on the Becker books. And then, for a while, the books were available to purchase on the Becker website. However, you can no longer purchase the Becker CPA books separately online now, unless you purchased a full course and just need a replacement CPA book. Becker does, though, sell several other study tools separately, including Deep Dive workshops, ExamSolver videos, final reviews, and more.

Gleim CPA Books
Amazon doesn’t officially carry Gleim books. So I’d like to point you to the official Gleim site where they sell all the Gleim CPA products. Gleim is one of the best CPA review courses and comes highly recommended.

Bisk CPA Books
Bisk CPA is no longer in business.

Wiley CPA Books
Wiley has been sold to a third party.
Amazon carries Wiley’s book at a great discount, and you can get even cheaper books from 2nd-hands over there. Please check out the Wiley CPA books here.
Guided Review Courses are More Effective

FAQs about CPA Review Books
What about replacement textbooks for specific CPA Exam sections?
When the CPA Exam changes, some providers will give you free updates, but some will not. For example, the Becker textbooks undergo updates periodically to align with modifications made to the CPA Exam blueprint by the AICPA. Specifically, the 2025 updates included new versions of textbooks for several sections of the exam: FAR, REG, BAR, and TCP. These updates were released in June 2025. The 2026 Becker updates will be implemented in January and again in June or July. Additionally, students will always have free access within their course to download and print the newly updated digital textbook pages.
How do you obtain replacement CPA textbooks for updated versions of the CPA Exam?
If you’re looking for updated CPA books when the CPA Exam changes, you should contact your review providers. Some courses–like Becker–will send you replacement textbooks (for a fee).
