Good News for International CPA Exam Candidates in Brazil!

E aí? You can now take your exam in your country instead of getting the CPA Exam in US. Yes, you heard it right. According to AICPA, the international administration of the Uniform CPA Examination will be offered in Brazil, starting in February 2012. U.S. CPA exam is administered internationally as a service to foreign nationals, as well as in response to increasing international demand for U.S. CPA licensure.

The international exam, which will be offered in English, the same as the U.S. exam administered by the AICPA, NASBA and Prometric. Along with passing the exam, international CPA candidates must meet educational and experience requirements as mandated by U.S. state boards of accountancy.

Who Is Eligible To Sit For The Exam?

The CPA Exam in Brazil will be open to citizens and long-term residents of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. U.S. citizens abroad are eligible to test at any location.

Is There Anything I Need To Be Aware Of?

Absolutely yes, before passing the CPA Exam in Brazil, there are certain things that you should be aware of.

  • US citizens can take the CPA exam in any international locations including Brazil.
  • Please take note that all long term residents of Argentina, Brazil, Columbia and Venezuela ONLY will be allowed to take the CPA Exam in Brazil.
  • After taking and passing the CPA exam, the candidate has to be licensed within 3 years (i.e. the experience requirement has to be fulfilled and properly verified within these 3 years) or else the exam results will become invalid.
  • Some states do not participate in this new program and you can get the list of participating states here.

Aside from countries like Bahrain, Kuwait, Japan, Lebanon and the UAE, AICPA has made it possible for Brazilian and nearby countries to be free from worry of having to travel to US to take the US CPA Exam.
