Oh wow. I wished I had this when I wrote my exams in 2007 and 2008. I've used Becker and Gleim btw.

Hi Stephanie,

Am using the yeager's homestudy. For the Auditing & attestation section, Is it sufficient to follow the video and work out the MCQ's /Simulations ? Else, Do i have to study
the Wiley guide as well. If so, what is the level of detail i should get in.

thanks in advance for your response

Hi Marie,
Are you talking about IQEX? Can try CPAexcel's course. I don't know whether it's good but for CPA exam review at least, CPAexcel is great. Please check out:
http://www.cpaexcel.com/iqex/

Hi Dil,
I would say at least work on the MCs in the video and make sure you get them right for the right reason. Then, move on to the rest of the Wiley MCs. Normally, the more MCs you tackle, the more "covered" you are. Ideally get all of them done; if not possible, work on the topics that are heavily tested.

hope it helps! Stephanie

Hello I have a quick question. I'm only 18 and I'm just starting my freshman year as an accounting major and I was wondering should I start studying for the CPA exam now with the 2011 material? even though I wont be taking the test for at least 5 years as I still have to get my bachelors degree and masters in accounting. So is it a good idea to start studying now?

Hi Rohan,
Sure just stick with Becker -- in fact Becker is pretty good if you don't mind the price!
Many candidates pass by taking Becker (and in fact, all the CPa review courses featured here). All of them are good -- so no worries you will pass if you study hard and with the right strategy.

Cheers

Hi Stephanie,

I am planning to take Financial and Audit in August using the Becker CPA Review(already began my preparations) but reading the reviews and doing some research i get the feeling that Yaeger is a much better option but the thing is i dont think i have enough time to get yaeger and start from scratch... I know that you think Yaeger is alot better but still do you think if i put in the effort using becker i would have good enough chance of passing the exam??

Hi Chris,
On Gleim's text book, I haven't looked at the latest version but if I assume the writing style stays the same, it would be very much the same as Wiley (even more... intense). If you realize that the original Wiley books were written by Dr. Gleim, you will know why.

Maybe Yaeger or CPAexcel will help? Yaeger explains Wiley's MC in video, and CPAexcel has bite size videos which is great for busy candidates.

Hi Wendy,
Sorry I am a bit late on the reply - hope it still helps. Let me see... typically if you have individual questions I would recommend Yaeger because they have this hotline that you can call. Otherwise, if you take Becker live classes there is an instructor too, but the quality of their instructors vary greatly.

If you would like to have more MC exercise for AUD then maybe a gleim CD for AUD will be an affordable choice.

By the way, are you reworking on the MC questions that you did wrong? If you allocate time to work on the problems until you get them right every time, you probably will pass without getting additional help.

Hope these suggestions won't confuse you further -- and best of luck to the upcoming exam!

Hi Stephanie:

I passed the BEC and REG sections. I used to have the Becker book for review. Now I used the Bisk books which I found is too complicated and mixed as you said. I tried the Wiley online bank these periods and found it is not enough for me. My audit section failed several times and each time the simulation is weak. I don't know which software or other materials can strenghthen my weakness. Otherwise is there any other alternatives for the Wiley on line software? By the way, If I have some individual questions, where I seek for the help? I appreciate for your early reply as I am ready to sit for the April or May exam for other two parts.

Thank you
