Idaho CPA exam requirementsIdaho grants CPA license only to its resident (or to-be residents). The education requirement to sit for the exam is easy to fulfill but additional courses have to be completed to get the CPA license.

Idaho CPA Exam Requirements

1. Education Requirements To Sit For The Exam:

  • Bachelor degree or above
  • Accounting courses: 20 semester units
  • Business courses: 10 semester units

2. Additional Requirements To Get CPA License:

Education

  • Accounting courses: 24 semester units
  • Business courses: 24 semester units

There are also 3 other options you can choose from depending if you have a bachelor or graduate degree. Please check the licensing information for details.

Work Experience

  • 1 year of working experience (with 2,000 hours)
  • Can be full time or part-time but has to be completed within 1-3 year period.
  • The experience must be verified by an active CPA. It does not state that supervision by a CPA is necessary, but please double check with ID State Board for sure.

Ethics Qualification

3. Residency & Age Requirements:

  • US citizenship not required
  • Must be a current or past resident, or plan to immediately reside in the state of Idaho
  • Minimum age: 18

4. Fees:

  • First-timers: $823 (4 CPA exam fees) + $100 (initial application fee) = $923
  • Repeaters: exam fees + $50 repeat application fees

Can’t Get Qualified In Idaho?

Don’t give up, as you may well be qualified to register through other states and sit for the same CPA exam. With the recent Substantial Equivalency (CPA reciprocity) rule CPAs from most states can practice across the country.
